Formula 1 legend and Real Madrid fan Fernando Alonso has revealed which Barcelona star he would sign, only to "leave on the bench" at the Bernabeu.

Two-time F1 world champion Alonso is a passionate Los Blancos supporter. He has been forced to watch on in 2024-25 as Clasico rivals Barca have restored domestic dominance in Spain – claiming La Liga, Super Cup and Copa del Rey titles.

Alonso would welcome any opportunity to weaken old adversaries from Catalunya and has been quizzed on which players he would look to lure away from Camp Nou if given the opportunity in a fictional transfer market.

Rather than plump for teenage wonderkid Lamine Yamal, Alonso jokingly told : “I would sign Pedri for Madrid, to weaken Barca. I also do that on the PlayStation and then leave him on the bench!”
